Unapologetic strategy
The democratic right-wing winning strategy.

What did Trump offer his electorate? Girard showed us desires are tripartite. Desires to have hide a desire to be.

Now, let us consider the average Trump voter. What is social success for him? Career fulfilment, a house, a family with children, relationships... everything that Trump embodies.

Except that he lives in a culturally hostile climate. If he achieves all of this, he should feel guilty for his success. He cannot be himself. This dissonance is the origin of desire. He will look for proxies, objects desired by people matching his idea of success.

Up until the right-wing wave. Suddenly, one man was not ashamed of his success. He was not only the proxy: he was exactly what the guilty man wanted to be. The voter did not want what Trump wanted, but Trump himself. That is why he voted for him. Whether the candidate will fulfil his promises does not matter. The vote was a priori.
